Psyllium husks are high in fibre, have strong swelling characteristics and are often used to support healthy, normal digestion. They are part of the plantain plant (plantago ovato), which are from India. Psyllium husks are excellent for gluten-free baking like bread, cakes, cookies and many more. They can also be used in smoothies, shakes, granola or even yoghurts. Due to the very low carbohydrate content, they are also ideal for a low-carb diet.

Are psyllium husks vegan & gluten-free?
Yes, psyllium husks are vegan and gluten-free
What is the difference between psyllium seeds and psyllium husks?
Psyllium seeds consist of a seed kernel + a shell. Psyllium seed husks on the other hand consist of the seed coat only. This seed coat has a particularly high concentration of mucilage and therefore better swelling characteristics.
How are psyllium husks made?
The seed shells are crushed after harvesting and the psyllium husks are extracted with a blower. This process separates seeds and shells from each other.
